If you haven’t managed to keep your resolution to lose those holiday pounds these 3D print fitness accessories will help inspire you to go that extra mile or add in that extra set of reps. Many of them serve as motivators or reminders to get back in a gym routine, or could even be given as gifts to a fitness loving junkie.
3D Print Fitness Gear
Through an extensive search through the FFF 3D print file sites, I can say that designs for 3D print fitness gear or accessories is severely lacking. Most especially disappointing was the lack of 3D print fitness accessories that were designed to customize common exercise tech pieces such as earphones, Fitbits, and the like. Many of the designs out there are utilitarian in purpose or serve as some sort of “hack” and simply put, are boring. 3D print fitness pieces for the gym have so much potential to be customized and make using them and going to the gym something to look forward to.
Here’s a short round up of 3D print fitness equipment for use in the gym (or out of, in the case of the phone holder on a bicycle).
There were a few useful 3D prints that would certainly make life easier while working out like the earphone clip and holder to wrap the cord up while the headphones are tossed in a gym bag, etc. My favorite of these 3D print fitness pieces being the ring that holds your key in place. When I was living on the coast of California, I loved running on the beach trail in San Clemente, but did not like having to hold my house key in my hand or having it jingle around in a waist band pocket (if the running shorts I wore that day even had one sewn in). I actually lost my key in the sand, never to be found again, when it was supposedly secure in my pocket. I really think this key on your hand would be so helpful to be able to see, and probably feel when you lose it, if it flew off but this design looks pretty secure.
To track and lose some serious pounds, there are some 3D print fitness pieces that will enable you to do just that. You can track your body fat levels the old school way with a 3D printed set of body fat calipers or you could order a wonderfully designed Fitbit slide and keep track of all the calories you burn in and out of the gym. I couldn’t pick a favorite of the Fitbit slides, because they were all so well done, you’ll have to check out Bytten’s shop on Shapeways to see all of them.
For staying motivated and on track with your fitness goals, these 3D print fitness reminders for on your desk, key chain, or necklace will do just that or simply show off your pride for CrossFit or weightlifting.
Finally, don’t forget to stay hydrated! And if it’s your mission to bulk up – there’s even a 3D printed protein powder scoop. How cool would either of these be if they were custom made with your sports team’s logo or mascot? Clearly, there is a severe lack in 3D print fitness items that are designed to go with some of the fitness tech accessories out there, and it’s a niche area that should be filled. 3D Print fitness accessories can be a great entry point for the non-3D print converted to design something that will help them get out and move.
