Getting dad a set of tools is probably the most typical gift possible, so why not make a 3D print Father’s Day gifts that tool-like but not flat out another hammer or electric screwdriver? Etsy, the land of 3D printable cookie cutters, has a bunch of fun shapes to use to make dad his favorite batch of cookies in the shapes of various tools, or even just the word “DAD”. Just as we said in our Mother’s Day 2016 3D print gift pick list, it’s a great idea to have kids of any age able to help make dad a gift he can enjoy.

Along tool theme for 3D print Father’s Day gifts is a bunch of handy things to organize dad’s tool shed, garage work bench, or just a helpful 3D print when he is using some of his tools. You can even 3D print a wrench for dad and maybe even customize it with his name. I can just picture my dad wearing this mini torch mount on his glasses while he works on some project later in the evening or maybe doing some sort of automotive work on his car. Totally tacky, but I can definitely see it happening.

Any dad is sure to love framed pictures of kids for Father’s Day, but 3D printing can take a photograph to the next level and really bring in some thoughfulness and uniqueness to a gift. Etsy seller PlasticDreams3DPrint, is able to take four pictures and 3D print them together in a cube that will create a lithobox. A beautiful way to show some of your favorite photos together with your dad, or of any siblings with dad, or even a gift to your husband of a picture of each of his kids. A shop on Shapeways called iconxware will create custom cufflinks in the likeness of the person who’s photo you send in, and while I like this idea I think it’s only good to have cufflink made of a new baby, but it’s a sweet and sentimental gift to a new dad that captures that moment in time.

Just as Etsy is the land of the 3D printable cookie cutters, it appears as if Shapeways is the land of uniquely shaped 3D printed cuff links, which can make for a great 3D print Father’s Day gifts if your dad or grandpa is still wearing them. One of our favorites that might be a hit with younger dads, or dads that are into top shelf whiskey and liquors is the Moonshine cuff links. Keep your dad organized with some of these fun hangers from 3D Shook. Maybe if you do get him a tie, you can print off the tie shaped hanger for all of his ties. Or if you got him a nice new shirt, you can gift it with a funky moustache shaped hanger. Your whole gift does not have to be 3D printed, but it can compliment a non-3D printed gift to make it extra special and memorable.

Let your dad know he’s your hero with this Hero iPhone (or any smart phone really) stand. A cutesy fun place for your dad to stash his phone and hopefully not lose it all over the house. The image in the background of this 3D printed sound wave also reminds me of looking up to dad as a hero, even though it says Happy Birthday in the example text, that can easily be swapped out for Father’s Day – or you could save that idea for his birthday too!
